Football Cameras - Not just for the professionals anymore.

The modern casual and grassroots football scene has evolved the game experience for the community of Ballers that make the sport a part of their life.

Leagues, tournaments, venues, events - Organizations that bring new slices of the elite experience are growing. Game video, highlights, player stats are all becoming more and more available to Ballers at any level.

STREET is a Football company that receives videos from 25+ countries across all continents except Antarctica - and our quest to immortalize your moments continues. On this journey, we receive videos from several camera types - we get a birds eye view of the game (sometimes literally when its a drone capturing the game). And we’ve put together an overview of the camera options available - the latest products and their pricing, video quality, and primary customers - to inform Ballers of the options out there.

As we create Match Highlights and Reels for free, game video quality becomes the main priority as we immortalize your moments around the World.

Camera quality becomes even more important with the the newest STREET Features - Player and Game Stats. The experience we all want - taking the group chat banter onto the field and letting STREET Stats reveal the real Ballers!

Enough about the STREET experience - Let’s talk about Cameras - the product, the price, the customers they’re built for and the video quality.

Veo - 2900 EUR

Veo changed the game at the Semi Pro and Amateur levels of Football. They walked onto the scene with a camera product that turned the heavy requirement of a professional recording setup into a box on a tripod setup. And that was the beginning of a marketplace that has since provided multiple options for recording in different settings.

VEO Cam 3 | Axitour

Veo 3 - the latest Veo Camera goes for around 2900 EUR for the first year, with a Team and Veo Analytics subscription that needs renewal in the next year.

In terms of quality of Football game video, Veo cameras provide videos that are at the top in terms of video quality, ball and action tracking in the game. Even the sharing experience

The expensive package comes with a premium experience for Teams, Clubs, Academies, and Leagues. The subscriptions are tiered based on the number of teams/players and number of games. It’s a great product for coaches and teams with a set of features that support them in their day to day operations - helping with game play analytics, video streaming, distribution and storage along with a simple easy to use product.

Veo has a strong presence in the EU primarily, and is popping up at football centers around the world. At STREET, we enjoy creating highlights for Ballers on Veo!

Hudl - 1500 USD

Hudl provides a tripod and camera setup for multiple sports - which includes soccer - and is primarily based in the US. Hudl bundles its camera product with tiered programs ranging from Schools and Colleges to Professional Leagues with price ranging from 1500 to 4000 USD for the first year.

Hudl is similar to Veo in the way they build a great experience for coaches and team managers, and a platform for streaming and sharing with the larger community.

In terms of video quality, Hudl provides a frame slightly more zoomed into the play compared to Veo, but loses a bit of video quality and clarity with that zoomed view. Overall, Hudl works a little better for small-sided games and smaller fields. The action and ball tracking work well and keep the play in view throughout the game. At STREET, we work with Hudl videos for any football games - and we look forward to seeing an improvement in video quality as they build features for Soccer (Football)

Reeplayer - 1500 USD

Reeplayer offers an AI powered sports tracking camera similar to the Hudl camera priced around the same level at 1500 USD. They’ve also got an unlimited service subscription package for 100 USD/month, and interested users can make in app purchases that include 9 USD for analytics for a single game.

Based primarily in the US, they advertise a durable camera for a range of weather conditions, real time processing and easy access and availability of game footage. AI auto pan and zoom for tracking the play and built in connectivity and live streaming. The product is geared toward parents and coaches and includes coach specific features such as audio recordings for coaching license certification. The video quality is great for smaller sided games for soccer, and can cover full field games as well.

Pixellot Air - 850 USD

The Pixellot Air is an easy to setup sports camera that can be used for multiple sports - including soccer. It is primarily made for teams and clubs with several features including full video breakdown of games and practices, along with detailed team and player analytics.

They offer subscription packages starting at 1200 USD per year for teams which includes automated video editing for game footage and the coaching tools. Pixellot camera systems are geared toward professional clubs and broadcasting - with the product experience built to service multiple sports, video analysis and monetization within a club or a larger organization.

Pixellot Cameras offer decent video quality for larger fields and justifies the price tag with a range of features that make life easier for sports organizations and their coaches and managers. A side by side comparison of Pixellot footage can be found later in this article

XBotGO - 800 USD

XBotGO Falcon is the latest in a lineup of easy to use and compact cameras for Soccer games. They are primarily based in the US and made for parents who look to capture moments of their children’s sporting glory.

The Falcon goes for 799 USD with NO Subscription, and is easy to carry and can be used with a tripod. The camera includes AI tracking as a capability that helps the camera move to capture the action and the ball in view.

With XBotGO videos processed at STREET, we’ve noticed that the AI tracking for Soccer is sometimes inaccurate and can track the wrong part of the field - leaving the action out of frame. Fast movement and sudden turns of play can leave the camera movement lagging or focused on the wrong cluster of players on the field.

In terms of video quality, the XBotGO cameras are more suited to small sided games with the latest Falcon providing a much needed improvement to camera quality that makes it suitable for full field 11 a side Soccer games.

TraceUp - 800 USD

AI powered sports tracking camera for youth sports, including soccer as one of their main sports. They offer several features focused on teams, parents, and coaches - such as team messaging and planning.

The Trace camera goes for 800 USD and can be bought in a subscription package. The subscription comes in an interesting new limited time offer - the camera comes with a free lease for the duration of the subscription - the options include a 15 USD/month basic plan and a 25 USD/month pro plan.

They offer live streaming along with multiple camera views - with a main broadcast view and a player following camera option for families to follow their athlete. They also offer an analytics package that can support coaches and teams.

Trace Cameras are great for small sided games and can provide quality footage for full field games of soccer! The Trace cameras are not available for purchase outside the US at the moment.

BallerCam - 300 USD

BallerCam provides an iPhone attachment that makes getting a completely new camera unnecessary. By making the attachment that enables full field soccer recording, BallerCam opens up a new market, especially for smaller field where more expensive camera setups might be overdoing it.

The camera attachment goes for 299 USD and the BallerCam app works with multiple sports. The BallerCam app has a free plan with 20 hours of cloud storage, with optional paid plans for additional features.

The device is weather resistant and water proof - providing some piece of mind as your iPhone does the hard work of capturing every moment in the game. BallerCam is a company in the US, primarily geared toward parents, and better suited for recording smaller fields of play.

As we work with BallerCam videos at STREET, we look forward to seeing their device bringing more small sided games into the space and help turn those videos into immortal moments! Video quality can be limited by the iPhone hardware and can be tough with larger fields.

FoloCam - 150 USD

FoloCam takes a similar approach - using the iPhone as an accessory to recording by upgrading it with extra hardware that is controlled through the App. The FoloCam app powers a DockKit gimbal (available for 100 USD) that can move your iPhone for filming games.

The FoloCam app is free for limited 10 minute recordings, and has paid plans starting at 50 USD/year that would be required for filming a whole game. The app is built for Parents to easily record their kids best moments on the field and keeps to a simple setup without any hassle.

At STREET, we find that FoloCam videos recorded with the best iPhones provide great video quality, but the action and ball tracking can be focused incorrectly during some moments. While they provide a compelling product offering, the FoloCam App is new and keeps improving with every update.

Phone Cameras with STREET - FREE

Everybody has a phone, or knows someone with a phone. The years of technology development that disrupted the traditional camera industry has continued to push the boundaries on smartphone camera quality and given everyone a way to capture and record moments in their lives.

Phone cameras with modern tools can enable a range of football video production as the everyday solution for Ballers anywhere.

At STREET, we design our systems with phone cameras in mind - supporting highlights production for multiple different recording use cases

1 - Phone Camera with a Cameraman

For cases with an active cameraman, we provide a similar experience as other moving camera highlights. Score-lines, logos, intro clips for the match highlights and reels of the goals for all the Ballers making it happen!

Reels of all the goals are also included - Don’t let your friends lose their Top Bins moment!

Check out a moving camera highlight on STREET!

2 - Mounted Corner Camera

Cameras at the corner are great if you’d like to capture the full field with a single phone and no cameraman. This comes with a slight problem - the near side gets all the glory while the far side gets video thats zoomed in and loses some of its quality.

STREET Highlights for Corner Cameras include zoomed in clips of the action at the far end and moving action camera effects for the plays on the near side.

3 - Mounted Pair of Cameras at the Half line

One way to cover the whole field without a cameraman is to get an extra phone! With 2 phones setup on the halfway line - pointing to the left and right respectively, the videos can cover the majority of the pitch (perhaps missing or overlapping the middle of the field).

The setup can be a tripod for 2 phones or a more interesting hack - velcro attached on a suitable surface and using the phone mount.

STREET Highlights for 2 camera setups include a zooming moving camera effect applied that makes every clip focus on the action with dynamic movement to follow it.

Drone Cameras

Drones are the coolest camera option with potential for entertaining and unique perspectives on a full field game of Football. Drone cameras can be expensive twice - once for the drone hardware, and then again for the (potential) permit/license and experienced pilot needed for every recording. Video quality depends on your choice of drone and the altitude of the flight - lower flight can provide better angles when possible.

While static drones are going to give you a Birds eye view, a skilled pilot and camera operator can give you an experience even the Professionals would love to see!

At STREET, we enjoy providing highlights for Drone cameras for the unique view they provide, and look forward to sports video drones in the future!

GoPros

GoPros are great for action shots up close, but covering a football field and all the action in a game from a single mounted position is not the GoPros strong suit. They are more suited to PoV gameplay footage (We don’t work with PoV videos….yet)

Setting up a GoPro can be better than a phone considering the video quality and location on the pitch. We’ve worked with several types of GoPro recordings and find that it works as well as a phone, and better with the right angle and video quality

Conclusion

The Football World is changing, and STREET is pioneering the change to capture any Baller’s best moments on the field! We work with any Camera so you can Upload and even submit Video Links (YouTube, Drive, Veo, Hudl etc) through the Streetplay Football Highlights App on the Play Store and App Store!

We hope to see you enjoy the beautiful game on STREET - the worlds First and Only Player Focused Camera Agnostic Casual and Grassroots Football App!

The vast array of camera options makes it a matter of choice - which way will you be recording your Football Game video if you wanted to get your Match Highlights, Clips and Player/Game Stats from STREET?
